A mega carnival entertaining Jaffna people after many decades is being held at the Jaffna Municipal Council grounds. Inauguration of this grand show was held on Friday (26) with the participation of a host of distinguished guests including Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Douglas Devananda, Governor Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri, Commander Security Forces –Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and Mayoress Jaffna Mrs. Y. Pathgunarasa.
On the directives of the Headquarters SF-J, this mega carnival named “Samaye Arunalu” (Rays of Peace) was organized by the 51 Division in order to entertain northern people, especially children of Jaffna who were deprived of having such fun due to the absence of peace.
The carnival is open for the public till 30th April and on instructions of the Commander SF-J, the 51 Division organizing committee has made entrance to the carnival free for the public.
